Department of Natural Disaster


Information about department and staff
Department founded as soon as institute establish, 1929 and throughout its existence it was known by various names: ,,Department of debris flow research", Laboratory of mining reclamation", which included ,,sector of natural research of debris flow stream".
In the department was functioning research point of Arakhveti, where was going field research of erosion-debris flow phenomena intensively.
During department existence were worked out prevention measures against erosion and floods on the many rivers of Georgia and water pipe, among them would be note rivers: Duruji, Laskandura and Mletistskali, on them almost continuously run field research.
It has been received many patent and inventions about anti erosion-debris flow phenomena constructions.
The current name of the department ,,Department of natural disasters", which has unique debris flow research device for laboratory research of erosion debris flow processes and hydraulic gully. It is desirable for their modernization.
At present scientific research subject of department is maintenance of stable development of environment. Management of risk of erosion-debris flow processes and work out of suitable prevention measures by use new technology achieve.
